In my spiritual journey I tried to express some of my current thoughts in a form that isn’t familiar to me (it’s sorta like poetry, but you may call it doggerel).
Seeking the It
As looking through a glass darkly,
I seek to know the divine that dwells within;
Within me, within thee, within all that is.
What is the infinite power?
I ask with finite wisdom; so limited,
It’s not even as big as I think I am.
What do I call it?
Even “God” is an insufficient word.
What do I make of the divine,
The power of humanness that is me;
Yet yearns for fulfillment?
Fulfillment in discovering and participating
In God’s intent for creation, the “It” in “It is good!”
Although I’m not there yet,
The journey is the joy.
I don’t need to arrive.
I only wish to be on the path,
And know that the world might be a better place
For my interaction with it.
This is my prayer,
Not expecting divine intervention,
But to glimpse the Spirit of Creation
And share it with others;
So much, that together we recognize
We’re a community, a body of lovers, doers.
What a delight to be in God, in all we do,
In being what we are created to be.
